A short biography

Born in Zimbabwe, based in San Francisco CA, Sanelle Sibanda is an award winning Director, Producer, Writer and Editor. He has written, produced and directed feature, documentary and short films that have been awarded in international film festivals and distributed world-wide.


His works investigates the relationship of people in communities, their cultural backgrounds and their view of the world. The form and content of his personal artworks often evolve from collaborative interaction with the community.


Through film he gathers information from individuals. Their everyday language of common expressions is interpreted and translated into structure and action that investigate the experience of humanity, and personal desire. In this way, he considers himself a social artist and thinks of his works as “activators”.
